Course Description:

This course was designed for the citizen who wants to stay safe while improving the health of trees and learn more about the value of trees and also prepare professional arborists for an ISA Certified Arborist examination. The teaching cadre has over 325 combined years of experience in the tree care industry. Nonprofessionals are also welcome to attend the entire course or other sessions to gain a better understanding of the benefits of trees and develop their tree ID and tree care skills. Three years of experience is required to take the ISA Certified Arborist exam. For more information on the exam, please visit www.isa-arbor.com. Course schedule:

  • February 4th  Tree Identification,Tree Biology, Installation and Establishment, Soil Science
  • February 11th Water Management, Tree Nutrition and Fertilization,Tree Selection, Diagnosis and Plant Disorders
  • February 18th Plant Health Care, Pruning and Oak Wilt,Tree Support, Tree Assessment and Risk Management 
  • February 25th Trees and Construction, Urban Forestry, Tree Worker Safety, Climbing and Working in Trees

Topics also address recently identified current events, skills, knowledge, and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to certified arborists and relevant to the professional development of the student. Students receive continuing education credits including Tree Maintenance License. Approved for 3 CEUs per session for ISA CA, TNLA and Master Gardeners, and 3 hours per session Master Naturalist Advanced Training.

Certified Arbortist Test Preparation Course Fee: $300; includes the Arborist Certification Study Guide (a $115 value)
